Brand Sizing Tips

    General Tips
    • If you find yourself between sizes, choose the smaller for a tighter fit, and the larger for a looser fit.
    • Be sure to measure yourself properly.
    • If your measurements fall across several sizes, use your chest measurement to select tops, and your hip measurement to select bottoms.
    • Consider how your waist-to-hip ratio compares to the brand you're looking at.
    Waist-Hip Ratio

According to the numbers you entered in the "Size Me" widget above, your waist-to-hip ratio is

Every body type has a different set of ratios between the chest, waist, and hips. The hip-to-waist ratio is found by dividing the waist measurement by the hip measurement.

An hourglass figure (#1), with a very defined waist, might be around 0.7, while a less curvy body type (#2) might be around 0.9.

An individual with an undefined waist (#3) would be a 1, while an individual whose waist is larger than their hips (#4) would be above a 1.

Different brands use different waist-to-hip ratios when making their clothes. Choosing a brand that uses the a ratio similar to yours can help ensure the garment fits both your hips and waist.

Sizing Chart > How to Measure

When deciding which size to buy, it’s important to measure yourself properly. Here are some tips and instructions to make sure you get the most accurate measurements possible.

    • Measure yourself in your underwear to avoid added bulk.
    • When measuring the circumfrence (the waist or hips, for example), be sure to keep the meauring tape parallel to the floor, and horizontal across the body.
    • Hold yourself as naturally as possible; no sucking in that stomach!
    • The measuring tape should rest comfortably on your skin; don’t pull it taught.
    1. Measure the circumference of the neck at about the level of a button-up collar.
    2. Measure the length from the vertibrae at the base of the neck, down the arm, to the wrist.
    3. Measure around the fullest part of the chest.
    4. Measure around the narrowest part of the torso.
    5. Measure around the fullest part of the hips and bum.
    6. Measure from the crotch to where you prefer the hem of your pants to fall.
