Description

Updated design

Whether you wear it under your ski shell on teeth-chattering days or over a baselayer on cold-weather hikes, the Women’s Helix Long Sleeve Zip Hood provides technical, sustainable warmth when you need it most. This hybrid midlayer features a 100% recycled polyester shell as well as stretch side panels to improve mobility and regulate body temperature. Inside the Helix, we used our innovative 70gm MerinoLOFT™ insulation, a sustainable and high-lofting alternative to synthetic fills made from all-natural merino wool (up to 10% of which is recycled). MerinoLOFT retains warmth even when wet and naturally helps regulate body temperature to keep you comfortable. Zippered hand pocket store cold hands and small essentials

Great for casual wear

This is a great jacket to wear around with jeans or chinos. It is a bit tighter in the shoulders/chest and looser in the waist than other brands but it just gives it a bit more of a casual fit.

It is not the warmest of mid layers but due to it's full polyester shell, it can be worn as an outer layer on cool, windy days.

> I have received a lot of compliments on the green color. I think it's a great jacket for day to day, just not as technical as the description would have you believe (not enough stretch, questionable durability in tough environments, not very packable). Continue reading

Great mid layer

Comfy fits well and nice and warm under my GoreTex shell. Haven't tried it yet during super active stuff though so not sure how it breathes but seems reasonable.

Weird fit

This is for the 2015 version, 2016 might be different. I like the idea of this jacket with the Merinoloft. I really wanted this one to fit. I like Icebreaker (I have more than 50 pieces of their product). But... on this one they missed the fit. I've tried an XL, I'm usually in between L and XL. The XL has too tight shoulders and very loose (kind of baggy) belly area. Nothing to tight the waist which is not looking good (I can live with that) but will be almost useless when their is wind (air draft will be too present from the bottom. Also, the length of the sleeve, for an XL, are on the short side. I had to return it. Continue reading
